About us
Who We Are: Lynda's Pet Palace is a trusted and passionate pet care service provider based in Diani Beach, Ukunda, Kenya. For the past two years, we have proudly provided a range of services including dog training, professional grooming, daycare, boarding, pet walks, and fun-filled activities. With over two years of collective experience in pet care, our mission has always been to create a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for all pets entrusted to us. Over time, we have experienced heartbreaking situations where clients abandoned their pets, leaving them with us as their last refuge. These moments deeply touched our hearts, as we realized that without our intervention, these pets would be left to fend for themselves on the streets. Witnessing this, along with seeing other stray dogs struggle for food, shelter, and companionship, inspired us to take meaningful action beyond our core services. Today, Lynda's Pet Palace is not just a pet care provider but a compassionate advocate for animal welfare. We are committing ourselves to rescuing and rehabilitating dogs from the streets, offering them a second chance to life. Our vision includes expanding our efforts through community outreach programs to educate, support, and promote responsible pet ownership within Diani and beyond. At Lynda's Pet Palace, every pet is family. Whether it’s training a pup, grooming a beloved furry friend, or rescuing a dog in need, we are driven by love, dedication, and a desire to make a lasting impact in our community. Together, we can create a world where every dog finds care, compassion, and a place to call home. Mission statement: Our mission is to give the best and outstanding pet care services in Diani beach Kenya, as we also improve the well-being of dogs in the Diani community through outreach, rescue, and care initiatives. Our aim is to nurture a culture of compassion and responsible pet caring by providing dog training, boarding, daycare, grooming, walks, and various activities. Additionally, we are dedicated to rescuing stray, or abandoned dogs and offering free veterinary care to ensure healthier and happier pets in Diani. JAX & Hope
At just six months old, Jax, the pup, had already faced a heartbreaking reality few could imagine. His story began when a foreign client of Lynda’s Pet Palace brought him and his tiny kitten sister, Hope, for boarding. The owner spoke warmly of their pets, calling them their “little family.” Jax was energetic and affectionate, his big brown eyes lighting up every room he entered. Hope, the kitten, was a delicate bundle of fur, often found snuggled close to Jax, as if she knew they were all each other had. Immediately she left Kenya, we knew something wasn’t right. The client never checked up and appeared never to have genuinely invested in her pets' wellbeing. But as days turned into weeks, we made efforts to reach her. Excuses were made about delayed plans to return to Kenya: “Work has been overwhelming,” they said. Then one day, the heartbreaking truth surfaced. A final message arrived stating, “I’m sorry. I can’t return to Kenya. Please take care of them. I can’t do it.” At Lynda’s Pet Palace, we’re no strangers to challenges, but this was different. Jax and Hope weren’t just animals left behind; they were abandoned family members. It was gut-wrenching to imagine what would have happened if they hadn’t been entrusted to our care. The thought of Jax’s playful nature and Hope’s timid purrs being silenced by life on the streets was unbearable. Despite their situation, Jax and Hope remained as loving as ever. Jax would wag his tail enthusiastically whenever anyone entered the room, his eyes filled with hope. He didn’t understand why his owner wasn’t coming back, but he didn’t let that dim his spirit. Hope, always by his side, would curl up against him for comfort, as if reassuring him that they still had each other. Seeing their bond and resilience inspired us. We made a decision: Jax and Hope would never feel abandoned again. They became part of the Lynda’s Pet Palace family. Every team member took turns giving them the love and care they deserved. Jax quickly became a favorite during our play sessions, his puppy antics drawing laughter from everyone. He loved playing fetch, chasing after sticks with boundless energy, his ears flopping adorably as he ran. Hope, on the other hand, found solace in quieter moments, curling up in cozy corners or purring softly as she napped in a sunny spot. The story of Jax and Hope touched not only our hearts but also those of our clients and community. Their resilience reminded us of why Lynda’s Pet Palace exists—to be a haven for animals, especially those who have nowhere else to turn. Today, Jax continues to grow into a strong, handsome boy, his loyalty and gentle nature shining through. Hope remains his steadfast companion, their bond unbreakable despite everything they’ve endured. Together, they’ve taught us an invaluable lesson about forgiveness, resilience, and the power of unconditional love. For Jax and Hope, their journey started with heartbreak, but it’s turning into a tale of hope and new beginnings. And for us at Lynda’s Pet Palace, it’s a reminder that every animal deserves a second chance—and a place to call home.
2. The little light: Zara's story
It began with morning walks, as we went for our routine walks in the jungle with our dogs, outside our gate, tucked against the wall, we first spotted her: a tiny kitten, no more than a few days old, snuggled close to her mother. Every morning, without fail, we’d see the mother cat nursing her baby under the fragile shade of an overgrown bush. They were a picture of resilience, clinging to each other in a world that seemed to pass them by. For three days, they stayed there, their bond a silent testament to survival. But then came the rain. That evening, as the storm raged, our thoughts turned to the little family outside. Anxiety gripped us. What if they were too exposed? What if the rain proved too much for them to endure? We couldn’t sit still. Grabbing our umbrellas, we rushed out into the storm. What met our eyes was heartbreaking. The kitten, shivering and frail, was huddled beneath her mother’s body. The mother had done everything she could to shield her baby, but both were drenched to the bone, their tiny forms trembling in the cold. We wanted to scoop them up right there and then, but the mother, protective and fierce despite her exhaustion, wouldn’t let us near. We couldn’t give up on them. Gently, we nudged them along the wall to a slightly safer spot, where they’d at least have some shelter from the relentless rain. And then, with heavy hearts, we stepped back to wait for the storm to ease, hoping we’d be able to intervene soon. By the time the rain stopped, the night was eerily quiet. We rushed back to check on them—but the mother was gone. She had vanished into the darkness, leaving her baby behind. It was both heartbreaking and hopeful. Was she coming back? Had she been scared off? We didn’t know, but we couldn’t leave the tiny kitten there to face the cold night alone. That’s how Zara came into our lives. We wrapped her in a soft towel, her frail body trembling against our hands. Her mews were weak but insistent, a tiny voice that seemed to plead for safety and warmth. We knew we could give her what the streets never would—a home, nourishment, and love. We named her Zara, inspired by the Arabic word 'zar', which means "flower" and also "light." It felt fitting for this little one who had already brought so much light into our lives. Zara wasn’t just a kitten; she was a symbol. A message. A gentle nudge reminding us of the countless others like her—strays and abandoned animals waiting for someone to care, someone to notice. The story doesn’t end there. Zara’s mother still comes around. We leave food for her at a safe distance, hoping that with time, she’ll learn to trust us. Perhaps one day, she’ll let us bring her in too, reuniting her with Zara under the safety of a shared roof. Zara has become more than a pet; she’s our inspiration. Her presence has ignited a fire in us to do more—to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome as many animals as we can. With every purr, every playful swipe of her tiny paw, Zara reminds us why we started this journey. She’s the light guiding our path, the flower blooming in the cracks of a harsh world. We believe Zara came to us for a reason. She’s a little beacon, urging us to stand firm in our mission to make this community a kinder, safer place for animals. And with her by our side, we know we’re on the right path. But we can’t do this alone. Zara’s care and the hope of one day bringing her mother into safety require resources, and that’s where you come in. If Zara’s story has touched your heart, consider sponsoring a cat like her. Your support can help us provide food, medical care, and a safe haven not just for Zara and her mother but for many other strays who need a chance at a better life. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can be the light they desperately need.
